WHAT:

Dr. Silviu Podariu

will give a talk on

Supernovae Constraints on Cosmological Constant and Scalar Field Dominated Cosmological Models

ABSTRACT:

This talk considers topics in General Relativity and Cosmology. We introduce the space-time in relativity and the expanding universe. In this framework, Hubble's law, redshift, the standard model, some scalar field models and neoclassical tests are presented. We conclude with maximum likelihood and median statistics methods applied to observational data.
