The UNO National Broadcasting Society Chapter traveled to Minnesota to attend the 2005 Regional Convention on October 22nd and 23rd.
The weekend was filled with different workshops and seminars the group was able to participate in. Upon arrival on Friday night the students attended a welcome dinner and and listened to keynote speaker, Jim DuBois, President/CEO of the Minnesota Broadcasters. While at the dinner they each had the opportunity to begin networking with NBS chapters from around the region.
On Saturday the group attended a full day of panel speakers. The speakers were professionals that worked in the many different fields of broadcasting. Students were able to listen to broadcasting backgrounds from sports announcers, music producers, news directors, radio experts, marketing directors, a meteorologist, and a video forensics specialist.
At the awards luncheon the UNO NBS chapter was awarded with the Rookie of the Year award, which is given to the newest chapter that displays the most promise.
All in all the regional convention was a very interesting experience that helped the chapter learn more about the broadcasting fields they may encounter in the future.
