Ten School of Communication students had unprecedented access to top newspaper, radio, television and public relations professionals Oct. 2-4 in Chicago. Jeremy Lipschultz and Karen Weber organized the trip. Alumni and friends of the School sponsored each of the undergraduate and graduate students. They toured WGN-TV where veteran anchor Robert Jordan allowed them to sit in on the evening news. Students also were in the FOX Chicago newsroom for their morning newscast. The groups met with reporters and editors at the Chicago Tribune and sat in on a morning news editorial session.
At Trump Tower, the students visited an 89th floor penthouse condominium and talked about marketing and PR. The three-day trip concluded with a two hour session at Edelman with Chicago President Rick Murray, who was keynote speaker last year at Omaha 10-10-10. The students also met with Phil Gomes and Chuck Hemann -- two high-level Edelman strategists. A group photo album is available on the UNO School of Communication Facebook page.
