UNO Forensics Breaks Top 15 in Nation

2007-2008 Uno Forensics Team- Nationals, Austin, Texas

UNO Forensics finished 13th in the nation at AFA competition in Austin, Texas. Five competitors made it to quarterfinals, three to semi-finals and two to the final round competition.

Lauren Ackerman was third place overall in the Program of Oral Interpretation. Teresa Oberdorfer finished in sixth place overall in Poetry Interpretation.

Meantime, Buey Ruet advanced to semi-final rounds in Persuasion. Earlier Ruet won state oratory competition and the right to represent Nebraska at the Interstate tournament in Madison, Wisconsin. It was the third year that Ruet earned one of two state spots to compete among the top 100 orators in the nation.

Matt Eledge advanced in Poetry Interpretation and Cameron Logsdon advanced in Poetry Interpretation to quarterfinal competition in Austin.

For the first time, UNO achieved its Top 20 goal – moving up 12 spots from last year.

There were 88 schools at the AFA-NIET and only the top 20 are given team awards.

Western Kentucky won the national competition this year. UNO finished just behind regional competitors University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Hastings College.
