No Limits! 2012 Student Conference in Women’s and Gender Studies

March 2 and 3, 2012

The annual No Limits! Conference focuses on student presentations of research and/or creative activity. Proposals for presentations of creative and scholarly work are invited from undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates on any topic from any discipline related to: women’s lives, masculinity, feminism, work, history, cultures, or gender studies.  

Dr. Michael Kimmel will present the keynote address “Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men” on Friday, March 2 at 11 a.m.

Cancelled. Ms. Jenn Freitag has been invited to perform “I Want My Jacket Back,” Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. (www.iwantmyjacketback.com)   Jenn Freitag, who was scheduled to perform "I Want My Jacket Back" on Friday night and provide a workshop Saturday morning, has cancelled. We will offer a dinner Friday evening as scheduled for those who chose it on the registration form; if you indicated "yes" but the performance cancellation means that you won't stay for dinner now, please contact kfalconeralhindi@unomaha.edu.   In place of Jenn's workshop, the UNO Art Gallery director has graciously opened the gallery for us Saturday morning. It's a short walk from the student center, and we can enjoy snacks and coffee while taking in the student art exhibit on display.

Sex+Money, a new documentary on domestic sex trafficking, will be shown Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. An expert panel will lead discussion following. (www.sexandmoneyfilm.com)

Creative writing, visual arts, film, music, performance and scholarly papers are welcome. Students who wish to present their work at the conference should submit the following information via email to Dr. Karen Falconer Al-Hindi kfalconeralhindi@unomaha.edu (“No Limits” in the subject line):

  • Project information: Title and abstract of approx. 250 words describing your project, including its significance
  • Contact information: Student’s name, university affiliation, mailing address, email address, phone.
  • Send this information as an attachment (.doc, .docx, or .rtf) AND in the body of the email.

    No Limits is an interdisciplinary conference on Women's Studies sponsored by the Women's and Gender Studies Programs at UNO, UNK and UNL, UNL's Women's Studies Association. The 2009 Conference was held at UNO. The 2010 conference was held at UNL.
