Dr. Blomfield is the director of the Islamic Studies program at UNO and part of a team that combines religion, history, political science and international studies to develop a program for undergraduates eliciting students from multiple disciplines. Dr. Blomfield is a faculty member of the Women’s Studies Program at UNO where she offers courses in Women in Islam and Women in Religion. Her areas of interest include Islamic feminism, women’s rituals and female religious agency and authority. An ethnographer, she researches Shi’a and Sufi Muslim women and their religious commitments to Islam. Her love of children and her commitment to education has spurred her to contribute to numerous schools, orphanages, and women’s organizations abroad.
