Additional Leadership Positions in the Thompson Learning Community

Applications will be available in April.

TLC Students With Kids (SWK) Coordinator (August-May)

  • Inform SWK about events in the TLC and the community
  • Coordinate events that promote family and child engagement
  • Serve as the point of contact about events and resources from local agencies that work with parents
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with parents to discuss issues and network with others
  • Advertise local conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Have information weekly, if needed, for the newsletter
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills

TLC Relay for Life Coordinator (January-April)b

  • Advertise the event in the office
  • Serve as the point of contact for TLC students interested
  • Attend meetings and report back to TLC staff and students
  • Assist in planning of fundraising
  • Have information weekly, if needed, for the newsletter
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills

Service Coordinator (August-May)

  • Work with organizations on campus to learn about activities for TLC students
  • Develop service opportunities with local agencies – Organize, plan, and implement
  • Advertise upcoming events to students
  • Create spreadsheets of upcoming opportunities
  • Have information weekly, if needed, for the newsletter
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills

Homecoming Coordinator (Late July-October)

  • Attend campus meetings about Homecoming week
  • Promote TLC student participation for Homecoming week activities, including a TLC entry in the parade
  • Assist in creating fun events for TLC students
  • Advertise all Homecoming events
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills

TLC Sophomore Students Coordinator (August-May)

  • Must be a current TLC Junior or Senior
  • Plan and implement programs pertinent to sophomore students including:
    • Sophomore Jump
    • S'mores with the Mores
  • Seek out information/resources from other departments and programs on campus to be shared in US 2020
  • Attend 3-4 Sophomore Seminars during the Fall semester
  • Mentor Sophomores through individual meetings and other communication outreach
  • Advertise events for sophomores/upperclassmen in TLC office
  • Have information weekly, if needed, for the newsletter
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills

TLC Intramurals Coordinator (August- May)

  • Organize and participate in TLC intramural teams
  • Attend scheduled games
  • Keep all information accurate for players (Date/Time/Location)
  • Advertise about upcoming games and intramurals during the year, encouraging fans to attend
  • Serve as the point of contact for TLC students interested in Intramurals
  • Have information weekly, if needed, for the newsletter
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills

TLC ELL (English Language Learners) Mentor (August-May)

  • Plan and implement programs pertinent to ELL students (Social, Service, and Academic)
  • Attend and promote attendance to International Studies Conversation Hours
  • Seek out information/resources from other departments and programs that might be helpful for ELL students
  • Serve as a mentor for ELL students in TLC
  • Have information weekly, if needed, for the newsletter
  • Work with TLC Staff to develop/enhance leadership skills
