                        With flu season underway, many people are worried about infections spreading.   One recent infection has people coming back for more.

The Omaha Community Playhouse in partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center has created a three-part series that helps people prepare for the zombie apocalypse.

The series starts with a showing of the musical Evil Dead and is followed shortly after with a talk by a doctor from UNMC.  The series addresses understanding zombies as well as how to avoid becoming infected.

“You’re talking about fluid-to-fluid transmission of an infectious disease.  So, you want to be making sure that you avoid all the zombie fluids, whether it be blood or saliva or anything else,” said Dr. Shawn Gibbs.

            An Omaha museum has a featured exhibit that is intended to remind and inspire.   The “We Want the Vote” exhibit at the Durham Western Heritage museum features artifacts which show the struggle to gain equality through suffrage.

In additional to the displays, the museum has speakers who present on various influential women.
One of the presenters, Linda Duckworth, President of the Omaha chapter of League of Women Voters, said that she was inspired by Susan B. Anthony.

“For more than sixty years, she saw some things going on in the world that didn’t seem right to her, that didn’t seem just, and so she just put her heart and soul into making things better,” Duckworth said.

The museum’s associate curator, David Kreidler, says that the most amazing part of the exhibit is learning about how influential Midwestern women were to the movement.

“Historians consider that one of the most important suffrage newspapers, during the movement’s life, was the Women’s Tribune, and that was Clara Colby from Beatrice, Nebraska,” he said.

The museum will feature the exhibit through May 25.
