The beginning of March, marks the beginning of the end for the college basketball season. UNO’s inaugural year in Division One has exceeded expectations as their record hovered around .500.

Towards the end of the season, Maverick Productions, a student group devoted to engaging students for activities both on and off campus. The students organized a blackout, against an South Dakota State University, where they encouraged fans to dress in black clothing and be extra loud.

Cross Training
Fitness fads will come and go like fashions, but there are two that have stood the test of time. A cardiovascular workout, like jogging; and a weight-training regimen have been around as long as running shoes and dumbbells.

Cross training is a technique that combines elements from a cardio workout with weight or resistance training and accelerating it into a short amount of time. Melissa Kelly, an instructor in UNO’s HPER building runs a cross-training class and her students are seeing results.

Kelly says that there are many cross-training classes and instructors across town and recommends a CrossFit or other boot-camp style of cross training if anyone wants to drop weight and get healthy in time for summer.
