Facilitated Study Groups

Facilitated Study Groups provide a dynamic opportunity for students to review course material, solve problems, and gain an understanding of course concepts in weekly meetings of 8-12 students led by a peer facilitator who has already successfully completed the course. The meetings are not group tutor sessions; instead, peer leaders facilitate interaction among the group to engage all the members, encouraging them to teach and learn from each other. Study Group membership is voluntary, but members are expected to attend regularly and participate actively. In contrast to SI, Facilitated Study Groups target only the interested students of a particular course, are offered for a wider selection of courses (not just high risk courses) and have reduced requirements of the peer leader.
