Nature Preserves

at the University of Nebraska at Omaha

UNO Nature Preserves, which include Glacier Creek Preserve and T.L. Davis Preserve, are managed by the Department of Biology to restore and preserve some of Eastern Nebraska's natural prairie and woodland heritage and serve as education and research sites for the University and the surrounding regional community.

The preserves consist of remnant and restored tallgrass prairie, oak woodland, prairie-wetland, and stream habitats which serve to protect the biological diversity of these disappearing natural resources. To learn more about conservation efforts at the preserves, visit our Preserve Sites page. Find out how to get involved with our conservation efforts on our Students and Volunteers page.

Education & Outreach

The preserves serve as outdoor classrooms for students and faculty at UNO as well as regional educational institutions at all levels (preschool-graduate school). Visits to the preserves by individuals and groups are also welcome. For more information about educational opportunities, visiting or scheduling a tour, see our Preserve Use page.

Unique research facilities and opportunities for faculty and students at UNO and other educational institutions are available at the preserves. To find descriptions of current and past research projects at the preserves or to learn more about conducting research at the preserve, visit our Research page.
