The purpose of the certificate program is to address the growing demand for highly skilled, professionally competent technical communicators in education, industry, and government. This certificate program provides students with specialized training in technology, writing, editing, and design, preparing them for the employment opportunities available in today’s highly competitive job market. The demand for professionals skilled in current technology and with sophisticated understanding of rhetoric is strong in the Omaha area, where technology-related businesses are rapidly expanding.
This 15-hour master’s Certificate in Technical Communication can be earned through either the Department of English or School of Communication. The program consists of five courses designed to teach students to evaluate communicative situations and respond to those situations with the appropriate genre, tone, and style. Students will develop individual and collaborative documents, culminating in a final portfolio representative of the projects completed through the coursework.
