Whether he's practicing paradiddlediddles as a member of UNO's percussion section or taking teacher education classes, it's all part of the plan for Alex Wimmer. "Ever since high school, I knew I wanted to do something with teaching," he says. "At UNO, I discovered it really was a good fit for me."

The Gretna, Neb., native looked at other schools, but "UNO seemed more of a better fit. Class sizes were smaller, and I could get more one-on-one time with professors. I could be more than just a number in a crowd."

A music education major, Wimmer has jumped in to his future field with both feet. UNO's learning environment, he says, has made that jump easier. "The professors want you to find the reasons why you want to succeed. It's made me realize why I love music so much."
