It's not often that a city council member has to deal with college homework. But for Victoria Lee, it's a way of life.

In 2005, the political science major was elected to the Missouri Valley (Iowa) City Council for a four-year term. She's possibly the youngest council member ever to hold that post.

Lee takes in stride the experience of juggling her council responsibilities with her UNO classes. Her professors, she says, have been really supportive of her dual role. "One of my teachers is a former state senator," Lee said. "He gave me some pointers on how to handle a press interview."

After graduation, she hopes to go on to earn a law degree. And, one day, she might just go on to hold another public office.
