STEP Scholarships for Metro Students

What is STEP?

STEM Talent Expansion Program (STEP). This is a program for MCC students with a declared major in one of the newly approved Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degrees. The STEM degrees consist of the following pre-majors:

	Computer Science	Pre-Chemistry
	Pre-Biology		Pre-Engineering
	Pre-BioInformatics	Pre-Mathematics
	Pre-BioTechnology	Pre-Physics
        

How Much is the STEP Scholarship?

The STEP Scholarship will pay up to $1,500 to be used by the student for tuition, books, or other Metropolitan Community College related expenses.

Who is Eligible for a STEP Scholarship?

Students are eligible if they have:

  • formally declared a major in any of the pre-major programs listed above,
  • completed at least 50 percent of their course work at Metropolitan Community College,
  • a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in courses of their declared STEM degree major.


  • Students meeting the eligibility criteria can apply for the scholarship when they are within a quarter of reaching their last 30 quarter hours for a STEM degree. Students that are currently within 30 quarter hours of completing a STEM degree may apply for the current Winter Quarter.

    When are the Application Deadlines?

    Feb 1, 2005 for the current ’04-’05 Winter Quarter
    Feb 1, 2005 for the’04-’05 Spring Quarter
    May 1, 2005 for the ’05-’06 Summer and Fall Quarters
