A Medical Sociologist and is a Professor of Sociology. Dr. Rajaram is a Women's Studies faculty, and a Latino and Latin American Studies faculty at UNO. She is a Public Health Faculty in the UNO-UNMC, Masters in Public Health (MPH) program. She has a courtesy joint-appointment with the Department Preventative and Societal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She received her Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from the University of Kentucky and has a Certificate in Medical Behavioral Science from the Department of Behavioral Sciences at the College of Medicine, University of Kentucky. Her research interest includes the health of ethnic minorities and underserved populations, women's health, and environmental health issues. She has done research in the breast and cervical cancer, diabetes and childhood lead poisoning. She is currently serving on Governor's Omaha Advisory Council for Lead Safe Neighborhoods. Dr. Rajaram has published extensively in the international and national journals including Sociology of Health and Illness, Women and Health, Preventative Medicine, and Health Care for Women International. She teaches Women's Health and Issues of Diversity, Medical Sociology, Society and Health and Introductory Sociology. |
