Fall Break Service Project, October 20, 22, and 23, 2007

During fall break, more than 200 students from UNO, Omaha North High School, and Marrs Middle School made an effort to give back to their community by making improvements to the facilities of Girls Incorporated of Omaha, the Malcolm X Home Site, City Sprouts, and the Child Saving Institute.

The principal project for Three Days of Service was a series of improvements at the North Omaha facility of Girls Inc.

Stuart Bernstein, Assistant Professor of Construction Systems in the UNL College of Engineering, lent his engineering expertise to the improvements at Girls Inc.

Volunteers removed a bulky old chalkboard, which was replaced with chalkboard paint.

Students from Dr. David Ogden's Principles of Public Relations class in the School of Communication, including Elizabeth Einspahr and Kristen Martin, provided essential public relations support for the event
