Visitors are welcome on
the UNO campus. However, due to the parking requirements, it is
necessary to have established parking regulations. The following rules
apply to visitors and are being distributed with the hope they will
assist you in making your visit a pleasant one.
The following highlights of the UNO Parking and Traffic
Rules and Regulations are for your convenience.
- All vehicles parked on the UNO
Campus are required to display a valid parking permit or temporary
parking permit. Temporary permits may be issued for 1-2 days, free of
charge. Circumstances which require longer term parking can be
authorized by filling out an application at the Campus Security Office
(EAB 100) and a permit for the necessary period of time will be issued
for a small fee.

Temporary permits for 1-2 days may be obtained from the
department/person you intend to visit, in advance, upon request.
- Parking meters are located south of the University
Library, north of the Eppley Administration Building, and north of the
Milo Bail Student Center. The fee for the meters is 50 cents for 60
minutes. Between 7 AM and 7 PM, all persons using meters are required
to pay for their use. After 7 PM, only valid permits may park in metered
areas.
- Access to the parking structure will be allowed by use of coin operated entry for a fee of $2.00 after 12:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Visitor defined: Those persons not officially
employed directly or indirectly or registered for classes at UNO, on
either a part-time or full-time basis.
- "Visitor" stamped on your Temporary permit means
you can park in any faculty/staff or student parking lot, except:
- Handicap stalls, unless
authorized.
- Reserved stalls
- No parking areas
- Tow-Away zones
- Loading/unloading zones
- Parking structure
- Attach the permit to your vehicle
according to the directions on the permit.
- If you should receive a ticket: Visitors
may return a maximum of two (2) Violation Notices and obtain waivers of
penalties provided the Violation Notices are signed and returned to the
Campus Security department within five (5) days of issuance. After the
second Violation Notice, a visitor is subject to the penalties
indicated. Violation Notices become delinquent if not paid after 14
calendar days following the date of issuance of the violation (excluding
University holidays). Two (2) or more delinquen Violations place your
vehicle on the Boot/Tow list.
- Appeals Procedure: If after the first two
tickets you should continue receiving tickets, you have the right to
appeal. Appeal forms may be obtained from the Campus Security Office
(Eppley Administration Building, room 100).
The following are a few of the services
offered by the UNO Campus Security department to all members of the
University community, including visitors:
- Motor vehicle
assistance:
- Jump
start;
- Open
locked vehicle;
- Change
tire (when vehicle operator physically unable).
- First aid.
- Escorts.
Campus Security can be contacted by
dialing 4-2648 from any on-campus phone and
554-2648 from a commercial phone.
For your protection:
- Lock your vehicle.
- Remove all
valuables from sight. Preferably lock them in the trunk of your car.
- Report all losses
to Campus Security.
- Report all
suspicious activity to Campus Security.
UNO assumes no responsibility for any lost or stolen property nor does the University assume responsibility for the care or protection of any vehicle or its contents at any time it is occupied or parked on campus.
