UNO Crime Alert – Theft of Catalytic Converters

Campus Security has received reports of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles in the last two months. The vehicles have been Toyota 4-Runners or Jeep Cherokees. The thefts have occurred in the Saint Margaret Mary’s (SMM) parking lot, UNO’s Pacific Campus, Elmwood Park and Creighton University.

A similar van has been reported being seen at Creighton University and at SMM. The van is described as a white panel van.  The van is distinctive in that it has one window on the driver side and three windows on the passenger side. A second suspect vehicle is a 2000, black Ford Taurus.

Omaha Police have reported an increase in Catalytic Converters thefts. Campus Security has increased patrols as well.

Be alert to suspicious vehicles prowling parking lots or double parking near vehicles with high ground clearance.

If you have any information about these incidents or see one of the suspect vehicles, contact Campus Security at 402-554-2911.
