Prospective Students in School Psychology
This could be your home for the next 4 years!
Welcome to the School Psychology at UNO webpage! Our program of study is highly respected and fully accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and we are very excited that you are interested! The UNO School Psychology curriculum provides a 4 year training program and fully prepares students to be Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP). Our 4 year program offers rich hands-on experiences through our multiple partnerships with local schools and the Academic Clinic at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at UNMC. Students choose our program because we offer exceptional balance between research and practice, an extraordinary amount of practicum experience, and the individualized focus our faculty provides for all students. Here's what some of our current students have to say about why they chose UNO:
"The other programs that I looked at were so big that there were few chances for individual attention or outside learning opportunities. The faculty here are also very helpful and involved in my learning." - Whitley, 2nd year student
"I chose the program at UNO because of its involvement in the community and supportive faculty." - Lacey, 1st year student
“I love the School Psychology program here at UNO. The faculty is very welcoming and friendly. What really drew me to the program was the unique mentoring program that is involved and all the applied experience you get!” - Jasmine, 3rd year student
"After interviewing with many programs, I found the School Psychology program at UNO to be the most inviting from the professors to the students. All were more than happy to hear my story, help me get settled into the new environment, and get me acquainted to the program. The professors gave off so much positive energy and excitement that it made me excited to be a part of their world. Their values in the program matched mine perfectly, that the decision to come to UNO was easy. I would not have it any other way. The staff at UNO is so supportive and encouraging that it sets each student up for success." - Marie Boyd, 1st year student
"During my undergraduate courses, the passion of the UNO School Psychology staff is what attracted me to the profession. Their love for the field, as well as the optimism they had about my abilities to improve the lives of others was truly contagious. When it came time to apply it did not even cross my mind to look at any other programs." - Lauren Smith, 2nd year student
Over the past 20+ years, our program has matched 100% of our students with internships, and historically 100% of our students have found employment following their internship year. Because UNO prepares students to become nationally certified, our students have sought internships and employment not only in Nebraska, but in numerous other states including Iowa, California, Georgia, Tennessee, Alaska, Colorado, and many more.
