Autism Spectrum Research

The Autism Spectrum research team is led by core faculty members Dr. Lisa Kelly-Vance and Dr. Brian McKevitt. This team emerged out of student interest in the field of autism spectrum disorders and effective intervention programs for this unique population. Although newly developed, the team has already progressed significantly.

The Autism Spectrum Disorders research team began by emphasizing research of effective interventions for individuals on the autism spectrum, specifically in the area of social skills. The team's research interests are broad, and while early research efforts were focused on intervention programs in preschool classrooms, the team has expanded research into all age groups through young adulthood.

Current projects include implementation of a peer-mediated social skills program for young adults with Aspergers and examining the effects of a peer-mediated classroom program for preschoolers with autism spectrum disorders.
