Dr. Rami Arav is Director of Excavations and Research, Bethsaida Excavations Project. Prior to his re-discovery of the site in 1987, Bethsaida had been 'lost' for nearly 2,000 years. Dr. Arav began excavating at the site that same year and in 1990, helped form the Consortium of the Bethsaida Excavations Project, which includes 18 colleges and universities from the US, Europe, and Israel.  In addition to his summer work on-site at Bethsaida, Dr. Arav teaches for the Department of Philosophy and Religion during the academic year.  His current research interests include the Iron Age City Gate found at Bethsaida, beginning in the 1997 season
