Degree Programs Offered by
The UNO Religious Studies Program
The Department of
Philosophy and Religion offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion. The department does not offer a
master's degree. The
general BA Requirements are required for Religion majors.
Religious Studies
In addition to the general requirements for the B.A. degree, a major in
religion consists of a minimum of 27 credit hours of religion, of which at
least 18 hours must be in upper division courses.
Department Requirements for all
Religious Studies Majors
30 credit hours in religion (18 hours at upper
division)
The following courses are required:
Introduction to World Religions (1010)
Old
Testament/Hebrew Bible (2150)
New Testament (2160)
Senior
Seminar in Religion (4010) [third writing course]
ONE of the following is also required:
Native
American Religions (3020)
Shamanism (3030)
Religions of the East (3050)
Islam (3200)
The Buddhist Tradition (4020)
A minor in Religious Studies:
18 hours, nine hours of which must be
upper division (3000 or higher) religion courses. RELI 1010 is strongly recommended for the minor in religion.
