Christian's areas of academic interest include religion in the ancient and classical Mediterranean world, archaeological investigation of religion, and issues of definition and interpretation in the study of religion. Christian has participated in two seasons of excavation in Israel with the Bethsaida Project. He has presented his work on material religious culture in the ancient world at conferences throughout the United States, and looks forward to publishing his work on the patera in religious iconography. When not picking the bones of history and culture, Christian enjoys letterboxing, bookmaking, metal detecting, and of course, movies. Christian has also been a professional actor, a prize-winning horror writer, and a cover photographer for the "swimsuit issue" of Biblical Archaeology Review...but those are stories for another time.
