Dr. Bridget Blomfield is an assistant professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Claremont Graduate University.

Her areas of expertise are Islamic Studies and Women's Studies in Religion. Her dissertation, The Language of Tears, is a study of Shi'a Muslim women's religious rituals particularly those rituals performed during the month of Muharram.

Her research is primarily ethnographic in nature and includes the religious rituals of Shi’a Muslim women, American Sufi organizations and Saudi students living in the United States. Ms. Blomfield teaches courses on Islam, Sufism, American Muslims and Women in Islam. She is currently developing curriculum using the spiritual journey and ethics of Malcolm X for a reentry program designed for the Nebraska prison system.

She is a newly elected director of the Center for Islamic Studies at UNO.

Her passions include African dance, Puccini operas and absolute quiet.
