Dr. Bykerk received her Ph.D. from Columbia University.
A native Nebraskan, her extensive travel both in the U.S. and abroad inform her teaching and research. Her insights on local, state, and national politics frequently appear in the local and national media.

Dr. Bykerk's research focuses on interest groups and public policy. Her research includes recent articles on consumer protection polify in national politics and lobbying under condidtions of unorthodox lawmaking and intense partisanship. She is also research civic education issues related to the Nebraska Civic Leadership Program.
