Dr. Bacon is active in the Omaha theatre community and serves on the Community Board of the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival. Since 1998 she has become involved in the UNO Faculty-Staff Gay-Straight Alliance and the Nebraska AIDS Project.

Current Research:

Dr. Bacon is a specialist on Romania and Moldova and has published widely on Romanian diplomatic history, civil-military relations in Romania and Moldova, the political economy of transition in both countries, and on political leadership.

Projects now in progress include work on the political economy of privatization in Romania and an undergraduate text for PSCI/HIST 2660, Peoples of East Central Europe since 1815.
