what is strategic planning?
Strategic planning is organizing the goals and perspectives of the campus community and developing guiding principles that fosters growth and help maintain stability. Strategic planning is a participative, top-down, bottom-up process that connects planning and budgeting to common goals. The process began with an analysis of the current situation at UNO by using environmental scans, as well as both internal and external assessments. The next development was of UNO’s mission, vision, and values. This helps us understand what we stand for, why we are here, and what we think is important. Only after these things have been established can an organization create a set of goals and strategize ways to achieve these goals. The final part of strategic planning is to implement our strategies, continuously monitoring our progress, and making the necessary adjustments.
