March 07, 2009
CHADRON, Neb. (AP) - Chadron State College has announced the elimination of 3 academic programs amid a budget shortfall for the state college system.
The program cuts affect museum science, information science technology and specialist in education.
The college also announced Friday that it was dropping five minors - sociology, humanities, Spanish, geography and political science.
President Janie Park says program enrollment played a large part in the decision-making process.
Park also says the university will layoff three faculty members and eliminate five vacant positions as it tries to cut costs.
