What is the Platonic Society?

The Platonic Society members at the University of Nebraska at Omaha had their inaugural meeting in March 2002 and successfully have held numerous meetings ever since. Occasionally philosophy guest lecturers are invited to meetings so members can enjoy friendly and informative conversations with them. For example, Dr. Richard Fumerton, the visiting lecturer from the University of Iowa, Spring, 2002 met with Platonic Society members while he was here.

Among the activities that we regularly do or plan to do in the near future are:

  • Weekly Slow Reading
  • Undergraduate philosophy colloquia and workshops
  • Meeting with professional philosophers and guest lecturers
  • Musical soiree - we can mix philosophy with music and, of course, food!
