Philosophy as an Intellectual Spring Board A surprisingly high number of professionals have majored or minored in philosophy while in college. Many of our graduates go on to law school or other professional schools. In fact, we have the highest ratio of sending our graduates to law school among all majors. Many professional schools consider philosophical education important and even necessary. Ethics - one of the three major areas within philosophy - is routinely taught in medical, dental and business schools under the names, medical ethics, dental ethics, and business ethics respectively. Many of the classical and contemporary novels have - at least tacitly - some ethical themes as their underlying points.
