The Office of Latino/Latin American Studies has been sending students to Perú since 2008 to engage in cross-cultural and international service learning and study abroad. Some of the highlights of past trips include: visiting Machu Picchu, constructing modules and repairing a child care center/preschool in San Juan de Miraflores shantytown outside of Lima, meeting with policy advisors and officials to discuss the history and future of Perú, site visits to different areas within Lima including historical landmarks.
Students took an online class in order to learn about the aspects of urbanization in Latin America that they then witnessed once in Perú, and once they arrived in Lima, they met their professor Dr. Celle who lives in Miraflores District, Lima, Perú!
