2013 Application Period is now closed. Brazil: Critical Issues 2013 is the second year of a pilot project developed to support the University of Nebraska's global engagement priority to offer the opportunity for significant international experiences to students, this is a three credit hour course that combines: a) distance learning and survival Portuguese prior to departure, b) on-site study abroad and basic Portuguese language instruction in Piracicaba at the University of São Paulo's Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" (USP-ESALQ) – USP's agricultural and natural resources campus and a hub of environmental, energy, and agribusiness innovation, and c) a service-learning project at a local community organization. Among the critical issues students will explore in Brazil are: education, health, agribusiness, economy, energy, the environment, sustainable development, urbanization and Brazil’s rise to global power. |
