UNO's 2013 Housing Move In Begins Aug. 18, Over 2000 Beds Expected to be Filled

Omaha - Beginning Sunday, Aug. 18, more than 2,000 Maverick students will be moving into one of the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) five on-campus housing options in preparation for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This year will mark the largest number of on-campus residents for UNO since it opened its first housing development, University Village, in 1999.

The following is a schedule of this year’s move-in times:

Sunday, Aug. 18
Scott Court (480 beds) – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Scott Village (480 beds) – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 22
Maverick Village (376 beds) – 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 23
University Village (576) beds – 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 24
Maverick Village – 8 a.m. to noon
University Village – 8 a.m. to noon
Scott Hall (168 beds) – 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

"We always want to make sure our move-in days go smoothly at UNO," said Bill Pickett, director of campus housing at UNO. "We spread locations and dates out to help with traffic and congestion."

At each of the move-in dates, students, many of who have never lived away from home before, will receive information about how to be a part of the on-campus community, which includes information about Durango Days, UNO’s official welcome week, available student services and safety tips.

“Everyone, parents and students, always come to move-in with a positive attitude. We also always have plenty of UNO staff members on hand to provide help with directions or questions pertaining to campus,” Pickett said. “We’re here to help.”

UNO opened its first apartment-style houses in 1999 with University Village; the development was followed in 2000 by Scott Hall, Scott Village in 2003, Maverick Village in 2008 and Scott Court in 2011. Media are welcome and encouraged to attend during any of the move-in times.
