UNO Celebrates 'Buffett Week' at Mammel Hall
Omaha - For one day every year, Omaha’s billionaire, Warren Buffett, invites shareholders to visit him in his hometown at the annual Berkshire Hathaway meeting. This year, the work done - and to be done - by the "Oracle of Omaha" is also being studied and celebrated at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
Beginning today, Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3, UNO’s College of Business Administration (CBA) will host a number of events focused on Warren Buffett’s life and career.
Starting today through Wednesday, May 1, the “Genius of Warren Buffett” seminar will take place at Mammel Hall. Robert Miles presents this sold-out event. Miles is a Buffett scholar, speaker, author and a leading authority on Berkshire Hathaway.
The Genius of Warren Buffett will provide 12 two-hour sessions over three days. The sessions will include discussions of Buffett’s education timeline in Omaha, management philosophies, mistakes, company governance and philanthropy, just to name a few topics.
Following this seminar, on Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3, will be the 10th Annual Value Investor Conference, which brings together 180 experienced professional money managers from over 20 countries to discuss various aspects of investing.
Wrapping up the week, on Friday, May 3, there will be two events that are open to the general public.
First, at 5:30 p.m., a wide variety of authors who have written on the genius of Warren Buffett will be on hand for a book signing. Free Dilly bars from Dairy Queen – a Buffett favorite - will be available at the signing.
Following the signing, at 6:45 p.m., Jeremy Lipschultz, director of UNO’s School of Communication will premiere his documentary “Mr. Buffett: The Teacher.” Lipschultz’s documentary collects video, photos and retrospective interviews about Buffett’s tenure as a professor at UNO.
There is no cost to attend, but seating is limited for this event. Interested parties can RSVP at http://valueinvestorconference.com/movieform.html.
UNO welcomes all interested parties to these two events. Media is also welcome and encouraged to attend any of these events throughout the week.
