Students to Display Research, Creative Activity at Annual Fair
Omaha - Over 170 research projects created by students studying at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will be on display Friday, March 8 as part of UNO’s Fifth Annual Student Research and Creative Activity Fair.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in UNO’s Milo Bail Student Center, representatives from seven colleges at UNO (including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering) will be on hand to explain their research and/or creative activity. In the past, topics have ranged from DNA structures of microscopic organisms to the impact of staff behaviors on students’ success in after-school programs.
“I am humbled by the passion the students embody for their work and by the amazing intellect evidenced by every project presented,” said Scott Snyder, associate vice chancellor for research and creative activity. “Based on the projects to be presented, I know that our students are full partners in the present and the future of research and creative activity at UNO.”
The fair, which is sponsored by UNO’s Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA) features students ranging from undergraduate to Ph.D., with cash awards for the best projects.
Awards will be handed out at a special ceremony, at 5 p.m., Monday, March 11 at the Thompson Alumni Center on UNO’s Dodge Street Campus. There will be winners in the categories of poster presentations, oral presentations, performance and exhibits.
The day will consist of two oral and performance sessions, a morning session that runs from 9 a.m. to noon and afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Posters and exhibits will be on display all day in the MBSC’s Ballroom, Nebraska Room and Aksarben Room.
Judges for each category are members of the Omaha community and are made up of business and non-profit leaders, UNO alumni and other friends of the University.
The full schedule will be available at http://www.unomaha.edu/orca/rcaf.php.
Any questions should be directed to Wendi Jensen, ORCA coordinator, at 402.554.2286 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
