Senior Thesis Showcase for UNO Art Students Starts Nov. 18
Omaha - The Department of Art and Art History at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will be sharing the work of its soon-to-be studio art graduates with two exhibitions to close out the fall semester. The exhibition will showcase the work of both Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Bachelor of Art in Studio Arts (BASA) students.
Both shows run concurrently with the BFA show taking place in the Weber Fine Arts Building Art Gallery and the BASA show taking place in the Criss Library Osborne Family Gallery - both on UNO's Dodge Street campus; an opening reception for the artists in both locations on Sunday, Nov. 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. The work will remain on exhibit through 5 p.m. on Dec. 15.
The five BFA students who will be showcasing their work include Scott McIntyre, Jordan Johnson, Ben McQuillan, Samantha Ashcraft, and Colleen O’Neill.
The students’ works include prints, paintings, video, digital prints and sculptures with theses ranging from anonymity and social behavior to the local skateboard community, as well as feminism and the power of love over conflict.
The five BFA students will be joined by 17 BASA students, including Shelby Beck, Leah Busey, Edd Casas, Kristi Doran, Jillian Droge, Alma S. Gutierrez, Kayla A. Harris, Natsumi Imai, Kara J. Kammerer, Coley Mixan, Amanda Nye, Melissa Peterson, Manda Schulte, Jeffrey Sedrel, Michaela Rose Vassios, Gerardo Vazquez and Bryanne M. Yosten. These students will showcase their work, which includes painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, drawing, video and mixed media.
UNO Art Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. In addition, appointments at other times are encouraged. Please call the Gallery at 402.554.2796 during regular hours for more information or to schedule an appointment.
Hours for the Osborne Family Gallery are the same as the hours for the Criss Library, which can be found here: http://library.unomaha.edu.
