MaverickPR Hosts Ninth Annual 'La Notte Italiana' Benefit Dinner
Omaha - Usually, when “La Notte Italiana” (Italian Night) is translated into English, it means an evening in Venice, Rome or Sicily. At the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) it means MaverickPR, the UNO chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), is hosting its annual benefit dinner.
The event, featuring authentic Italian cuisine from local restaurants, silent auction and a night to socialize, will be held Friday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at St. Margaret Mary's Suneg Center, 6116 Dodge St. All proceeds will help the chapter pay for student travel, competitions, campus and community service projects and special events.
The fundraiser comes a few days after the PRSSA National Conference in San Francisco Oct. 12 to 16, in which 10 members and their faculty adviser will represent UNO. The team has worked year-round to prepare for the five days of professional development, competition and networking.
Advance tickets cost $20 for adults, $12 for students and $5 for children under 12. They may be purchased or reserved through Karen Weber, PRSSA faculty adviser, at 402.554.2246 or email@example.com through Wednesday, Oct. 17. Tickets at the door cost $25 for adults and $15 for students.
MaverickPR offers students interested in public relations opportunities in professional development and community and university service. One of the most active student organizations on campus, the UNO Student Organizations Leadership and Programming (SOLP) named PRSSA its Outstanding Student Organization in 2010-2011. UNO PRSSA also earned the F. H. Teahan National PRSSA Award for Outstanding Chapter in 2009 and Outstanding University Service in 2010.
