Scott Conference Center to Host Cyber Security Event Oct. 1

Omaha - The Scott Conference Center, located on the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Pacific Street Campus, will host the ninth annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month on Monday, Oct. 1.

Elected officials, federal officials and industry leaders will convene in Omaha on the morning of Oct. 1 to launch the month-long call for cyber security awareness and hold a Business Security Summit. The day’s events are free and open to the public.

Summit guests include representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the State of Nebraska and companies like VISA, Microsoft, PayPal, Verizon, AT&T, McAfee and Symantec.

Topics discussed at the summit will include how to keep your electronic devices clean from viruses and malware, how to respond to a cyber incident, how to educate your employees about cyber safety, protecting your IP address, PCI Data security standards and more.

The day starts at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast, with the summit being held from noon to 5 p.m.

Since 2003, National Cyber Security Awareness Month has highlighted the importance of protecting the nation’s cyber infrastructure and encouraging individuals to play a role in protecting themselves and our shared digital assets.
