More Than 1,500 Graduate from UNO on May 4-5
Omaha - More than 1,500 students received degrees Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, during the spring University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) commencement ceremony. The two-day graduation weekend event is a new tradition for the university.
Former U.S. senator (and UNO alum) Chuck Hagel gave a graduation address to the assembled students and their family members and friends on May 4. Other who were honored during the ceremony included Omaha philanthropist Dick Holland, who received a honorary degree; faculty member Ethel Williams, who received a Chancellor's Medal award; and Bob Houston, director of Nebraska’s Department of Corrections, who was recognized by the UNO Alumni Association.
