Parking Services Announces Changes to On-Campus, Off-Campus Parking
Omaha - Students who park at Crossroads Mall and ride the shuttle to campus will share the space with Methodist Hospital beginning with the Fall 2012 semester.
The change is just one of several UNO Parking Services has announced regarding parking on and around campus that take effect at the start of the 2012-2013 academic year.
UNO will still occupy floors one through four of the Crossroads parking garage, but students parking at the garage should be aware that Methodist Hospital will begin using a shuttle bus system as well, said Jim Ecker, manager of UNO Parking Services. While the location of the UNO shuttle pick up will not change, riders must take heed when boarding the shuttles to ensure they are boarding the UNO bus. Additionally, the street leading to the garage will become one way, running east to west only.
On campus changes include the closure of lots Q and M, west of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service and south of the Criss Library, and lot O, behind the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Building, due to construction of the Community Engagement Center and Biomechanics Lab, respectively. These closures are set to remain in place throughout the duration of the 2012-2013 academic year; this means a slight adjustment to the Pacific street shuttle drop-off location, which will be announced at a later date.
Due to construction, Lot T on the lowest level of the east campus parking garage, located behind Arts and Sciences Hall (ASH), will be available to both students and faculty/staff who purchase garage access.
UNO Parking Services encourages students to purchase their permits online instead of coming in to the Parking office.
“Those who tried [purchasing online] loved it,” Ecker said.
Students must place their orders by Friday, Aug. 3 in order to take advantage of this online service. For those who still want to pick up their parking permit in person, Parking Services’ office hours will be extended to 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. between Wednesday, Aug. 15, and Thursday, Aug. 24.
Permits purchased online after Aug. 4 will be available for pickup in the auditorium of the Eppley Administration Building Aug. 13 through Aug. 17, and in the Council Room on the third floor of Milo Bail Student Center Aug. 20 through Aug. 24.
Beginning Aug. 20, students with resident parking permits will be allowed to park on any surface lot between the 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. For more information, go to the UNO Parking Services website at www.unomaha.edu/parking/ or contact Parking Services at UNOparking@unomaha.edu.
