Salvation Army Back-to-School Backpack Drive Runs April 9 - May 4

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is once again engaging in a friendly competition with Creighton University and College of Saint Mary in an effort to support the Salvation Army’s Back-to-School Backpack Program.

UNO, led by the UNO Staff Advisory Council (SAC), Creighton and College of Saint Mary will be competing to collect a specified number of a single school supply for students in Omaha. This year, UNO’s goal is to collect 5,000 rulers between Monday, April 9 through Friday, May 4.

Faculty, staff, students and members of the community are encouraged to purchase rulers at the UNO Bookstore, located on the first floor of the Milo Bail Student Center.

The UNO Bookstore is selling three rulers for $1 and donations of rulers purchased off campus will also be accepted at the UNO Bookstore. Last year, UNO surpassed its goal of collecting 5,000 new highlighters, collecting over 5,500 of the important school item for the Salvation Army.

All of the donated items between the three schools will be handed out to students at the start of the school year in August of this year.
