UNO Art Students to Showcase Thesis Work Starting April 1

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) Department of Art and Art History is pleased to present the work of 10 Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) thesis students and 15 seniors in the Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts (BASA) program in the final exhibitions of the Spring 2012 semester.

The BFA exhibit will be featured in the Weber Fine Arts Building’s (WFAB) Art Gallery, while the BASA work will be featured in the Criss Library Osborne Family Gallery. Both exhibits will open with receptions for the artists on Sunday, April 1 from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibits will remain open for public viewing until 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 5.

BFA students working in glass, photography, ceramics, painting, sculpture and installation explore both the personal and universal in their thesis work. Concepts ranging from the natural world to the world of decay, work inspired by family, narrative, memory or the nature of perception are explored visually.

The BASA exhibition in the Osborne Family Gallery includes “Design-O-Mite,” the work of eleven graphic design majors, as well other media from students working in painting, ceramic and digital media.

The UNO Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the WFAB on the UNO campus at 6001 Dodge Street. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. In addition, appointments at other times are encouraged. Please call the Gallery at (402) 554.2796 during regular hours for more information or to schedule an appointment.
