English Lit, Quantum Physics Topics for Fourth UNOrthodox Event

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) semesterly UNOrthodox series returns March 14 with special guest Matthew Marx, lecturer in the Department of English.

Marx, who also earned his bachelor’s and masters degrees at UNO, will present a talk entitled “Quantum Literature: How Poetry Can Help You Understand Physics” in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) Collaborating Commons. The presentation will run from noon to 1 p.m.

In the lecture, Marx discusses how 19th-century English literature can help us understand the works of Einstein, quantum theory and superstrings.

UNOrthodox, now in its fourth semester, was started as a collaboration between UNO’s Student Organization and Leadership Programs (SOLP), Student Government and other campus partners. The goal of UNOrthodox is to generate honest and thought-provoking conversations at UNO.

Like all other UNOrthodox speakers, Marx’s selection was decided through an open student nomination process.

For more information on the UNOrthodox program, or other upcoming events, please contact SOLP at (402) 554.2711 or email Ben Jager at bjager@unomaha.edu.
