NET Radio and KVNO Radio in Omaha Announce New Partnership

Lincoln - NET Radio and KVNO Radio in Omaha recently announced a new partnership that will increase efficiencies for both stations and enhance classical music broadcasting across the state.

“This joint venture is an exciting opportunity for both organizations as we work together to provide statewide public radio and save financial resources,” added NET General Manager Rod Bates. The two stations have been collaborating since 2010, informally sharing news staff and news reporting.

KVNO Radio is part of the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media (CFAM). NET Radio is licensed to the state of Nebraska through the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission (NETC).

The partnership between KVNO and NET Radio will expand the audience for KVNO Radio to cover the entire state of Nebraska, while offering NET Radio a strong partner in the Omaha metropolitan area.

“This collaboration will leverage the strengths of both operations,” said Gail F. Baker, Dean of UNO’s CFAM. “NET Radio will help us sustain our current excellence while also expanding our reach.”

Beginning Monday, Jan. 23, NET Radio host Lora Black’s “Afternoon Concert” will be simulcast on NET Radio and KVNO Monday through Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. CT and her show “Classics by Request” will air Friday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. CT.

During the overnight hours, Clifford Jones and other KVNO hosts present classical music, broadcast on both NET Radio and KVNO beginning at 10 p.m. CT. The overnight programming includes the shows “Modern Classics,” “Nocturnes,” “Starlite Classics,” and “Saturday Night Classics.”

KVNO can be heard on 90.7 FM in Omaha. NET Radio is heard on 91.1 FM in Lincoln and surrounding areas.

The statewide radio network also includes Alliance (KTNE 91.1 FM), Bassett (KMNE 90.3 FM), Chadron (KCNE 91.9 FM), Hastings (KHNE 89.1 FM), Lexington (KLNE 88.7 FM), Merriman (KRNE 91.5 FM), Norfolk (KXNE 89.3 FM) and North Platte (KPNE 91.7 FM).
