Councilman Thompson to Speak at UNOrthodox Event Nov. 17

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) semesterly UNOrthodox series returns Nov. 17 with special guest Councilman Franklin Thompson.

Thompson, who has served Omaha’s 6th District since 2001 and is also a professor of education at UNO, will be speaking about local government at the event. Thompson’s presentation, titled “Local Governance During Tough Economic Times,” will run from noon – 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) Collaborating Commons, 132 and 132D CPACS.

UNOrthodox, in its third semester, was started in 2010 as a collaboration between UNO’s Student Organization and Leadership Programs (SOLP), Student Government and other campus partners. The goal of UNOrthodox is to generate honest and thought-provoking conversations at UNO.

Like all other UNOrthodox speakers, Thompson’s selection was decided through an open student nomination process. For more information on this, or other UNOrthodox events, please contact SOLP at (402) 554.2711 or email Ben Jager at bjager@unomaha.edu.
