UNO Jazz Ensembles, MAYJO to Perform Nov. 15

Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) Jazz Ensembles and the Metropolitan Area Youth Jazz Orchestra (MAYJO) will be holding a concert Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom.

The concert will feature works made famous by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Budy Rich and Dizzy Gillespie. The show, which starts at 7 p.m., is free to any student, faculty or staff member with the use of a MavCard. Otherwise, tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.

The award-winning UNO Jazz Ensembles, part of UNO’s Department of Music, continue to receive acclaim for their outstanding musical performances from internationally recognized jazz artists.

In its eighth year, MAYJO, an audition-only group, is made up of the finest high school music students in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area. MAYJO is directed by UNO's coordinator of jazz studies, Pete Madsen, and assisted by others from the UNO Department of Music.
