MaverickPR to Trick-or-Treat for Salvation Army
Omaha - MaverickPR, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will be trick-or-treating for a good cause on Halloween as its members canvas Omaha and Council Bluffs neighborhoods for donations to be given to the Salvation Army.
Like other trick-or-treaters on the night of Oct. 31, MaverickPR members will meet at designated locations across the Metro and go door-to-door, in costume, for charitable donations in preperation for winter.
MaverickPR is also encouraging other students to donate their time for the trick-or-treating event. Those interested should contact Summer Broderick, MaverickPR’s service director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donations to the Salvation Army will also be accepted on the UNO campus from Oct. 24 through Nov. 7 in Arts and Sciences Hall (ASH) Room 140.
During both events, donations can be made in the form of non-perishable food items, including canned goods, boxed dinners and cereal, or personal hygiene products, including diapers shampoo, toothpaste and toilet paper. Cash or checks are also accepted; please make all checks out to The Salvation Army.
“This Halloween service project gives students a chance to have a lot of fun but still provide a much needed boost in feeding needy families especially hit hard by a tough economy, “ said Karen Weber, MaverickPR’s faculty adviser.
