PR Conference at UNO Connects Jeans With Teens
Omaha - Turn last season’s jeans into a teen-in-need’s new favorite (and possibly only) pair of jeans for “Jeans for Teens” drive to benefit at risk youth served by Youth Emergency Services (YES).
Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to drop off new or gently used men’s and women’s jeans of all sizes to Arts and Sciences Hall, Room 140, on the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) campus. Men’s jeans sizes 38 and 40 waist are especially needed.
The jeans drive is part of the community service initiative for “The Power of PR Connections,” a regional conference April 8 -10 hosted by MaverickPR, the UNO chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
For more conference details, visit UNO-PRSSA Regional Conference 2011 PR Connections (Facebook) and @prconnections (Twitter).
The jeans drive runs from April 5-15. Donations can also be dropped off in the lobby of Mammel Hall on Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the College of Community Service and Public Affairs (CPACS) Collaborating Commons.
For more than 35 years, YES has offered a safe place for young people in crisis – the YES Shelter. Last year alone, more than 160 homeless and at-risk teens spent at least one night in its Omaha shelter.
