Guitarist Ricardo Iznaola to perform at UNO on April 8
Omaha - The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s (UNO) Department of Music welcomes guitarist Ricardo Iznaola to the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall on Friday, April 8 for a performance beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The public welcome and encouraged to attend this event, which is designed to raise funds for the department’s guitar program. Tickets are $10 and UNO students get in for free with their MavCard.
Iznaola is a Cuban-born musician with professional experience as a recording artist, composer, teacher, lecturer and writer. His scholarly work on the use of guitars is foundational reading for many professionals.
As the Director of the Conservatory Program and Chair of the Guitar and Harp Department at the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver, Iznaola has been honored as a faculty member and lecturer. He is also a member of the distinguished faculty/artist roster of the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine, where he teaches individual lessons, coaches chamber music and offers weekly Masterclasses every summer.
Iznaola has created an impressive number of original works since his debut in 1970 in the areas of chamber, orchestra, vocal and solo music, which have been performed by many distinguished artists from around the nation. In 1991 Iznaola formed Iznaola Guitar Works (IGW), a recording and publishing company that has released many successful CDs.
The Strauss Performing Arts Center is located in the middle of UNO’s Dodge Street Campus with parking available on either side of the university campanile.
